Refinishing Plastic Chairs -- An Easy DIY Project!

Plastic chairs can become worn and unattractive after years of usage. Instead of replacing them, why not consider to refinish them instead. Fortunately, refinishing plastic chairs is a simple process that anyone can do on their own.
The first step involves preparing the plastic chair for paint. This is done by scuff sanding the plastic and giving the paint a surface it can cling to. Use a coarse grit sandpaper and thourougly scuff the entire chair. Pay no attention to scratches and scuffs -- they'll be covered later!

You'll need to choose a paint that's specially made for plastic. Cover your lawn with newspaper or a tarp, and place your chairs on top. Cover the chairs with a thin, even coat of paint. You'll want to apply three coats, allowing each one to dry in between. After painting, it's time to protect your chairs with a weatherproof finish. Try an oil based polyurethane for maximum protection, and apply up to three coats.
